Meguro 350cc : FY / YA Argus (Argus-Sport)

Although 300 cc class of Meguro was taken over to 350 cc-Y and Y2 type which start and follow 
 J3 type, it was the performance which will be inferior to the lightweight motorbike class of 
 the other company around 1959. 
Moreover, the practical use vehicle market for conveyance which the Meguro300cc class made the 
 main customers is beginning to separate from Meguro by the popularity with a three light 
 weight car "daihatsu midget" and the appearance of a moped "Honda Super-Cub".
Then, 350cc of Meguro was regarded as the sport motorbike class by having used dull F type as 
 the base from the favorite difference in a user, appearing as a Meguro 250cc class those days, 
 and the new 350cc motorbike which carried out the boa rise of the engine for equipment as it 
 is with the F type body, and FY were made to appear in 'April, 59.
However, the appeal from the contents of a performance did not permeate, but FY which cannot 
 find out F type and a difference from appearance was regarded as the F type minor change 
 motorbike, and there were only 18 sets only of sales track records in five months.
Then, the concept was improved and 350cc sport motorbike and YA Argus were opened to the public 
 in September so that it might unite with Tokyo Motor Show in 'November, 59.

The YAH type single cylinder OHC4 cycle engine of FY / YA Argus extends the FH type boa x stroke 
 68x68.5 of F to 74x75.5, it is a request and there is no structural difference.
However, the total displacement volume can be called 350cc vehicle, and is 325cc correctly.
A gearbox as well as FH type engine is the built-in mono unit type.
A cylinder head is an aluminum alloy. 
A cylinder is the same specification as FH engine which considered the cylinder sleeve made 
 from a cast steel Sendaito-metal by the special casting process as Alfin processing.
The maximum output is performance with 19.5HP / 5,500rpm, and top speed sufficient as 120 km/h 
 and a sport motorbike.

It is the design which YA Argus equipped the dual sheet standardly in order that just a frame 
 might advertize a sport motorbike with community, the exclusive career (a loading platform is 
 different) was attached to the body being the specification as F with same FY at the rear of 
 a rear fender, and was elaborate.
The exhaust pipe and the muffler serve as what is called rise specification, and are a standard 
 form by sport motorbike of those days.
Like the second half of F type, the dome type fuel tank was made into the design which the 
 motorcycle class of Meguro and common specifications turned plating finish up, and applied 
 the surroundings of an emblem to the ellipse form black, though it was the same as plating 
 finish as a black pattern.

In the Motor Show, "Argus-Sport" is specially opened to YA Argus as an order car.
Argus-Sport was using specially the carburetor in which Meguro carried out proprietary for 
 racing motorbikes for YA Argus as equipment.
Moreover, seemingly, they were the contents some whose performances specification by the result 
 in the Asama volcano race or a car race was given to each part, and also improved.
Although it was a production-by-order vehicle, details of sales performance are also unknown 
 at signs that there was nothing.

The most is YA Argus although, as for FY and YA Argus, 597 sets are manufactured by the 
 production end for '62 years from 'April, 59.
Probably, this number shows that there are few points which can be asserted as compared with 
 the sport motorbike of the rival other company, and impact is weak, though enough as a sport 
 motorbike of Meguro.
The only track record which has advertized this motorbike is only the Senior class championship 
 in the 2nd Asama volcano race, and it is not 350cc motorbike, either.
Although it was the engine by racer technology, it is not the championship engine itself, either.
Possibly in the market which attention said to the commercial sport type motorbike of the other 
 company by the almost same spec. as a racer, there was no room for the sport motorbike of 
 Meguro to enter etc.
The sport motorbike of Meguro will not capture the spotlight without the appearance of K Stamina 
 which succeeded traditional 500cc class of Meguro after that, and will be accompanied by the 
 track record.
Unexpectedly, the sport motorbike appropriate for Meguro was in the Meguro-form.
